As you may already know, your fellow firefighter, Omar Blanco, is running for U.S. Congress in Florida's 26th District. Please consider supporting his candidacy by joining our fundraising efforts. It takes great courage and commitment to put yourself and your family in a position to run for public office, a courage many of you intimately understand. That very courage comes from a deep rooted tradition of always having each other’s back and now is time for this incredible brotherhood and sisterhood to show their backing for a man, or better yet brother firefighter, who will have your back.
As past president of Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403 in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Omar Blanco was at the forefront of passing legislation at the local, state and federal levels of government. He played a vital role in passing the cancer coverage bill in Florida, which at one point had much resistance, but with hard work from Firefighters from across the state and his continued commitment and persistence, the cancer bill became legislation. Omar Blanco has represented his fellow firefighters and understands your needs firsthand. In part, this is a driving factor as to why Omar is running for U.S. Congress. He will be your voice in Washington as he has been in Miami-Dade and Florida.
As our nation and the world now struggles with the new challenges of dealing with COVID-19, firefighters and first-responders are once again on the frontlines of this battle. Omar, as an active Lieutenant in operations, understands the struggles first-responders are facing during this global pandemic. From the need to for additional protective gear to protection for our first responders who are exposed to this deadly virus, anything less than your ability to keep you and your families safe is simply unacceptable. Omar knows your struggles, because they are also his struggles. Rest assured, once Omar is in Washington, your concerns will be addressed with the conviction and vigor no other U.S. Representative can possibly deliver because they do not know what it is like to walk in your shoes.
How will you and your family be protected should there be long-term or recurring affects from the coronavirus? Like with the 9/11 victims compensation fund; Will it take over a decade to receive the benefits and/or treatments you deserve because of a bogged-down Congress? With Omar in Congress, he will make sure your needs are not only heard, but that they are given the utmost priority. However, this can only happen if and when he gets to Congress, and he cannot do it alone. Time is of the essence for Omar and his campaign. April 1 marked the beginning of a new fundraising quarter. Please consider making a minimum of a one-time contribution of $26 to make a difference and to help Omar stay in this race. Running for office is not only a difficult endeavor, but it a very costly one.
As Omar’s campaign finance director, I humbly ask that you consider making a one-time contribution in the amount of $26 to his campaign. With the ever-developing coronavirus and the impact it is having nationwide, it has become very difficult to raise the necessary funds for Omar to continue campaigning. Your support is needed now more than ever. If you are able to make a one-time contribution of $26 to your fellow firefighter, together we can get past this difficult time and ensure Omar is able to keep pushing forward. Think about this: Omar would be the first active firefighter to represent you and your needs in Congress. Every bit counts so please spread the word and ask anyone who knows or loves a firefighter/first-responder to contribute as well.
Contributions can be made online at www.omarblanco.com. It only takes a few minutes to donate, but the impact your contribution will make is immeasurable.
Please help Omar push through this difficult time and let him know you believe in him and are proud to stand with him by making a $26 contribution now.
Please note contributions to federal campaigns can only be made with use of personal funds. No corporate contributions are allowed.
Thank you for your anticipated consideration and support.
